Awards

The staff at Rau Construction is immensely proud of each and every project they have completed over the years. However, it is nice to know that other people appreciate our work as much as we do. The following are some of the most recent awards we have been honored to receive.

Building Excellence awards for Project of the Year – The Associated General Contractors of America, Kansas City Chapter:

2018 AGC Building Excellence Projects of the Year: Lucas Place Lofts, Hotel Indego/Fairfax Lofts

Category:  Renovation Project by General Contractor
“The Rau team lived up to their reputation as a first class general contractor with expertise in historic structures, and without them we would not have been as successful on this great project.”

 — Hotel Indego/Fairfax Lofts

2012 AGC Building Excellence Project of the Year: Grand Boulevard Lofts

Category:  Renovation Project by General Contractor
“The entire Rau project team worked together to coordinate every aspect of this complex construction project.  Rau Construction Company did what we know they will do for us on future projects, they provided personal attention to detail to ensure the overall success of the project and complete customer satisfaction”

 — George E. Sherman, President and Owner, Sherman Associates Inc.

2012 AGC Building Excellence Project of the Year: TMC Behavioral Health

Category: Project by General Contractor $1 Million to $5 Million
“Rau Assembled an outstanding team of subcontractors and guided them through the complex change of use from a photographic laboratory to a medical office facility.  The Rau Team never wavered with the many scope of work changes during construction and performed an extremely high quality of craftsmanship in the process.  I give Rau Construction Company the highest marks for excellence in performance and quality for the TMC project and would recommend them without reservation to any developer or building owner.”

   —  Nathan Accardo, Developer, Accardo Arts & Design District

2010 AGC Building Excellence Project of the Year: Sigma Phi Epsilon

Category: Project by General Contractor $1 Million to $5 Million
“Rau Construction assisted SigEp’s ownership group from the very early stages of the project, providing critical advice on many of the features of the project design.  Rau’s project manager had direct interaction with the neighboring owners throughout the project, taking extra steps to meet their desires.  The construction, from its inception, progressed on schedule, and the project came in below cost projections.  From an owner’s perspective, “on time,.” “under budget,” and “no workmanship issues” is about as good as it gets!”

—  Thomas L Gray, Sigma Phi Epsilon Construction Committee Chairman

2010 AGC Building Excellence Project of the Year: Valentine Apartments

Category: Renovation Project by General Contractor
“Valentine Apartments was a complex historical rehab involving significant structural damage and the renovation of intricate plaster work in the lobby and foyer areas.  The team’s guiding goal was to meet the schedule and budget while performing with the highest quality of craftsmanship available.  The highest praise I can give is that Rau Construction and Stark Wilson Duncan Architects are good problem solvers.  They proved that time and again on the Valentine project.”

—  Jack P. Hambene, Senior Vice President, McCormack Baron Salazar Inc.

Safety

Rau Construction Company makes safety its top priority. Period. This begins with in-house safety training of all new employees and continues with weekly ‘tool box talks’ and OSHA-10 Hour Certification.  We believe in maintaining a not only a safe job site, but one that is also clean and well maintained at all times.

Rau Construction’s attention to safety has been rewarded numerous times.  For seven time in the past 11 years, the Associated General Contractors (AGC) commended Rau for Zero Incidence Rate in our work class.  Rau has twice received the AGC national safety award for having the Best 6-Year Record in our class of any construction company in the United States of America.

Rau is one of only a few General Contractors in this region that has been accepted into the OSHA Build Safe Partnership.  This is a unique arrangement where a General Contractor partners with   Builders Association Safety and OSHA in a commitment to safety.

Our philosophy toward safety is directly rewarded with high productivity and workplace moral.  Management and employees are continually reviewing methods of safe construction and developing ways to make the work place even safer.  In 2006, Rau Construction was recognized by the local AGC chapter as a finalist in their Building Excellence Awards for their outstanding Safety Program.
